About Us
House of Huqin is a centre for huqin enthusiasts to get information and scores of huqin especially Erhu. We also provide one-on-one online classes at a flexible time, instructed by professional huqin musicians.

Erhu二胡
Erhu is the most common instrument in the huqin family. It is played in many countries especially in eastern countries such as China, Japan, Singapore and Malaysia. Erhu has a wide range of repertoires with different styles and genre. It is also commonly used in music of Japanese animation, tv dramas and movies. It has rich tone colors and profound sound which will resonate with the inner self of human. It is also light and can be carried around and play at any time when you feel like to.

Gaohu高胡
Gaohu plays the role of high pitch member in the huqin family. It is tuned a perfect fourth higher than an standard Erhu. Gaohu is common heard in Cantonese music which is popular in Guangdong Province and Hong Kong. A traditional Gaohu is also called Yuehu which means "Cantonese Huqin", the posture of playing is different from that of Erhu, which the sound box is clamped between the thighs when playing. Such playing posture is replaced by the standard posture as in Erhu in a professional Chinese Orchestra
Zhonghu中胡
Zhonghu is being created to meet the need of Chinese orchestra to fill the gap of pitch range between the huqins and cello-bass section. It is tuned to a perfect fifth lower than a standard Erhu. It has a sound pitch closer to that of a human voice. Zhonghu is very essential for a Chinese orchestra for it acts as the viola in a western symphony orchestra, with which it bridges the gap between the high-pitch instruments and the low-pitch instruments. Zhonghu is seldomly used for solo performance.
